Sumba Island
This region, nicknamed the “land of a thousand hills”, is located in the East Nusa Tenggara Province. Its area is approximately $10,710 text{km}^2$ and the highest point is Mount Wanggameti, $1,225$ meters.
It consists of 4 regencies, namely, West Sumba Regency, East Sumba Regency, Central Sumba Regency, and Southwest Sumba Regency. Sumba Island has a landscape dominated by savanna/grasslands and is rich in biodiversity. The area is famous for its tourism, which lies in the exotic beauty of the island.
Sumba borders Flores to the northeast, Timor to the east, Sumbawa to the northwest, and Australia to the south and southeast. The Sumba Strait is located on this island. The Indian Ocean lies in the south and west, and the Sawu Sea is located in the east.
